Inter-ministerial & CSOs Coordination Meeting held for Preparation Global Digital Compact & UN Future Summit
In continuation of the Global Digital Compact and Summit of the Future 2024 Bangladesh Preparation, an Inter-ministerial Coordination Meeting was convened at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh on 14 February 2024 with a hybrid manner.
Additional Foreign Secretary and Inspector General of Missions Dr. Nazrul Islam, Multilateral Economic Affairs Wing, Director General Mr. Faiyaz Murshid Kazi was present from inter-ministerial wings and Mr. Toufiq Islam Shatil, Deputy Permanent Representative, Ms. Mosammat Shahanara Monica, Minister, Mr. Nasir Uddin, Counsellor, Mr. Md. Rafiqul Alam Molla, Counsellor, of the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations joined from USA parts.
Md. Abu Syed, Director, Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) of the Information and Communication Technology Division, Mohammed Aminul Ahsan, Deputy Secretary (Legal Section), Mr. R H M Alaol Kabir, Senior Assistant Secretary, H.M. Asad-Uz-Zaman.
Strategy & Innovation Specialist of the Aspire to Innovate(a2i) of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Mr. Md. Sahab Uddin, Assistant Secretary, Mr. Md. Mahabubur Rahman, Director, Ms. Farida Yasmeen, Director, and Ms. Nusrat Jahan, Senior Assistant Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs also participated at the meeting.
From the CSOs side, Mr. Hasanul Haq Inu, Chairperson, Mr. Mohammad Abdul Haque Anu, Secretary General, Md. Shajjad Hossain, Member of the Bangladesh Internet Governance Forum (BIGF) and Mr. AHM Bazur Rahman, Chief executive Officer, Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) and Executive Coordinator, Bangladesh Initiative for Connecting, Empowering & Amplifying Unified Voices on UN Summit for the Future 2024, Bangladesh Executive Secretariat were present at the meeting.
Mr. Faiyaz Murshid Kazi, Director General, the Multilateral Economic Affairs Wing, presided over the meeting. Various issues relating to preparing the Global Digital Compact and Summit of the Future 2024 Bangladesh Preparation were discussed elaborately in line with the Pact for the Future. Zero draft of the Summit of the Future and First Round and second round of Consultations about the Global Digital Compact including Bangladesh Initiative for Connecting, Empowering & Amplifying Unified Voices on UN Global Digital Compact & UN Summit for the Future 2024 has been initiated by the Bangladesh Internet Governance Forum (BIGF) and Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) since 2022.
